About The Carbon Capture Report
The Carbon Capture Report™ is a service of the University of Illinois and the Midwest Geological Carbon Sequestration Consortium that monitors news and social media from around the world on climate change to keep you "in the know" about the latest news, updated 365 days a year. Our advanced biographical databases, geographical intelligence, and advanced analytics keep you on top of the breaking global trends. Created by researchers at the University of Illinois as a way for them to keep track of the global climate change discourse, the site was made available to the public in March 2009 and has constantly been expanded ever since. The site also functions as a testbed for advanced "global-scale" media analysis and data mining technologies. Instead of a news aggregator that just displays headlines, the Report is a complete news analytics and intelligence service that uses cutting-edge technology to delve deeply into each day's news and provide rich insights on the underlying patterns.Media Research
The Carbon Capture Report is part of a larger series of longitudinal studies on domestic and international media coverage of climate change and carbon sequestration led by Kalev Leetaru of the University of Illinois Cline Center for Democracy and a Center Affiliate of the National Center for Supercomputing Applications and Dr. Hannes Leetaru of the University of Illinois Institute of Natural Resource Sustainability. For one of our past publications, please see The Use of Data Mining Methods to Evaluate Public Interest in Carbon Sequestration, presented at the Fifth Annual Conference on Carbon Capture and Sequestration.
